In the past few years, the reputations of resumes were at stake as the so-called University of Recto emerges. Designing an attractive resumes is very possible by putting false data to make it more impressive. Data on it are usually supported by fake documents and certifications. These documents could be acquired at a small stall or even a desk along Recto. Recto has been known for its character of making fib certifications not only pertaining to resumes but for some other legal documents. The desperate applicants in finding job grab the opportunity to avail of fake attachments to support their resume. They are the people who claim to have graduated from reputable schools or to have a master's degree, which in fact they do not. They would claim have previously worked from competitive companies provided that they have fabricated certifications.
In this instance, employers could no longer identify the resumes that tells the truth and bears genuine and authenticated attachments, to those containing fictitious information.
Since the emergence of the University of Recto, this has been a cheating epidemic.
As computer age is concerned, many resumes are being submitted or sent thru online. It has greater chance to lie on it. This was partly an out-growth of the Internet age. Employers should be especially wary of resumes that come in online, since it seems applicants are more willing to fib that way. (Dr. Richard White, New York Times, September 12, 2006) If other huge companies and corporations got fooled of fib resumes, at least at first, by resumes, how can small businesses, with fewer resources for checking, cope with what seems to be a cheating epidemic?
In our local employment status, many deployment agencies came in to this kind of business. However, they tend to be lenient verifying and interviewing applicants before they deploy them to other firms. Thus, veracity of the resume could no longer be given much attention. Perhaps they have many things to check and other errands to fulfill.
One has to change this way. Before this cheating applicant could execute prevalent fraud in the company he is applying with, pre-employment precautions have to be done to stop it.
